US Gov Declassifies Flying Saucer Plans

In a September 20th post on the Nation Archive Blog, entitled How to Build a FLYING SAUCER, by Michael Rhodes, reveals details of the US Air Forces plans to build a flying saucer from 1956.

‘USAF Project 1794’ was contracted out to a Canadian company, Avro Aircraft Limited in Ontario.

The report explains the saucer was designed to be a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) plane designed to reach a top speed of Mach 4, with a ceiling of over 100,000 feet, and a range of over 1,000 nautical miles.

Cutaways includes parts like ‘disc rotor’ and ‘fixed outer ring’ implying the craft rotated. One cutaway shows a single pilot, the other a ‘PILOTS COCKPIT’ with round windows.

The blogger implies at the end of the post that these crafts could be responsible for UFO sightings from 1956 and 1957. Possibly, but obviously missing that the ‘modern saucer’ era was kicked off 10 year prior and unidentified objects matching this descriptions have been around as long as human records exist. Or even more likely is projects like this are a way to provide covers for unexplained saucers that the US Government had no control over.
