Conflicting Information On East Coast Fireballs and Booms

Not an actual picture of the East coast fireballThe Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. is quick on the draw to credit Sunday March 29th’s fireball and sonic booms that were seen and heard down the East Coast to exploding space junk from the second stage of a Russian Soyuz rocket falling back to Earth. A Russian-built Soyuz rocket lifted off Thursday from the Central Asian spaceport of Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to launch a new crew and American billionaire Charles Simonyi to the International Space Station. The U.S. Naval Observatory claims they were expecting to see parts of that rocket around 8pm on Sunday (thanks for the warning).

Meanwhile, Stefan Bocchino of the USAF Joint Space Operations Center says the “bright light” seen over parts of the East Coast Sunday night was not a result of a man-made space object.

This is very similar to the February 15th Texas fireball, that was first credited to pieces of falling satellites which had collided over Siberia several days before, then quickly the story changed and a meteor was to blame.

Here are two reports that made it to The first fitting in perfectly with the timing and description of the March 29th East Coast Fireball.

Chesapeake, Virginia
I was not present, however my wife called to tell me about the incident. She heard a loud, rumbling boom about 9:45 PM Sunday. As it turns out, the sound was heard across several states, and several witnesses in the Hampton Roads area have come forward with their descriptions of what they encountered. It has been reported on several of the local news channels, and none of the government agencies have come forward with any information or knowledge of what it was. The meteorogical folks reported no unusual weather or meteors in the area, and NORAD nor NASA have not come forward with any knowledge of space debris coming down. It was suggested that it was the booster rockets from the Soyuz mission, but again, no confirmation from anyone who would certainly know. I hope this gives you a lead to follow up on, and I apologize for not having more info myself. I just thought you folks might find this one of some interest, especially since no government agencies are acknowledging anything.

The second note worthy because its from the area of many of Sunday nights reports and is oddly like a report from March 25th that took place in Oklahoma, both stories start with the person taking their dog out to pee and mention a video camera.

Fairfax, Virginia
I went to sleep early, and woke up a few hours later, I looled at me cell phone and if was 10:35PM. My dog needed to go out, so I put on my shoes and went with him to the garden. When I looked up I saw a small point of light that I thought was a star. The point of light flashed, and then I saw two other lights on either side of it. They began to move in the sky from left to right in triangle formation. I thought it was the underside of a plane, but there was no sound and the wingspan would have been too long for a normal plane. I watched it for a few seconds, and realised this was not a normal plane. I ran back inside and found my digital camera (Sony Cybershot)and ran back out to the garden. When I was back outside they were still there. I took a video for about a minute without using zoom on the camera. Because it was dark out, I could not see what was being captured on the camera screen very clearly. When they continued to move, I went up the stairs that lead to the balcony, and adjusted the zoom on the camera. The lights remained stationary but changing formation. After I filmed it, I went inside and woke up my grandmother. When we went back outside they were still there, and she was able to observe them for about a minute before they became too dim to see. There was no sound in the sky when I first saw them, towards the end of the video, I could hear a plane coming, and two planes flew overhead towards Dulles Airport. The lights continued to move into distance until they were no longer visible. The first half of the video the lights are almost too small to detect, they are in the centre of the screen towards the left. The yellow lights on the bottom of screen at times is a porch lamp from a neighbour’s house. The next day, I read a report that many people had seen lights in the sky over MD, DC, and VA due to space debris from a Russian Rocket that broke the earth’s atmosphere. People reported seeing fireballs, and red and green lights. The lights I saw were white, round and flew sideways and in intelligent formation. I did not see any colours or fireballs, and nothing fell to the ground. 03.29.09 Ms. L. Lyons

Fireballs and Booms Reported Down Atlantic Coast

Fireballs and booming noises, similar to the Texas Fireball from February 15th, were reported in Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, March 29th. Witnesses described brilliant, streaking colored lights followed by an explosion-like sound.

One person making a report in Carroll County e-mailed a local TV station to say she “spotted a large fireball in the western sky. It started out being about star brightness, then increasingly got brighter and greener. As it got green, it had an orange sparkling tail…We saw it go almost all the way to the ground before losing sight of it in the trees.”

Another from Durham, N.C., described the following: “I remember seeing something greenish and changing colors. It was leaving a trail (not sure of the color). I never saw it hit the ground either because it faded, got covered by trees, or burnt out.”

Yet another wrote: “I was driving South on Interstate 83 between 9:30 and 10:00 (Sunday) night when my wife and I both saw a streaking green light fall from the sky. It looked like a shooting star, but it was definitely falling to the ground and not shooting across the sky.”

Virginia residents from Hampton Roads to Richmond reported seeing “great balls of fire” lighting up the sky in shades of yellow, white orange and blue.

Many reports also describe a thunder-like sonic boom noise as well.

These reports are very similar to the March 4th and 5th California sonic booms, the March 9th New York booms and fireball sighting, and the host of sighting from around the world that occurred within several days of the now famous February 15th Texas Fireball.

Ukrainian Orb UFO Caught On Video

On March 27th, a Ukrainian news site ran an article featuring a video of a strange white-pink sphere.

The original article is here, I ran it thru Babel Fish’s translator and the result can be seen here.

From what I can tell, residents of the Ukrainian town of Senelnikovo in Dnepropetrovsk had been seeing UFOs in the sky for several weeks before Ufologist Vladislav Kanuka was able to record the following video. Senelnikovo has had multiple sightings since 1995. I am unable to figure out when this video was shot or any follow up on the story.

UFOs Over Texas and Oklahoma has two interesting reports of UFOs over Texas and Oklahoma this week. Both stories start with the witnesses dogs and the Oklahoma sighting makes mention of a video camera, so maybe video of the event exists.

Texas – March 24th, 2009

About 9PM last night March 24, 2009 I was sitting on the back patio of our house petting the dog and watching the sky. We live almost under one of the main flight paths for San Antonio Airport. My patio faces approximately northwest. Almost all of the air traffic is on a North/South trajectory. You can clearly see all FAA marking lights and landing lights as the aircraft are usually low in altitude. About 09:08PM a bright gold flash caught my eye to the west and I immediately focused my attention there. I saw a very bright sold gold orb moving from the west to east at a very fast pace. It had no tail and was very well defined. It did not fade in or out, but simply appeared for about a second and disappeared. I got up and moved towards the west side of my patio to make sure that a small tree had not obscured the view, but it was not there. In about thirty second another bright gold object appeared just below where I had seen the first one. This one had a bright tail behind it that appeared to be debris like a sparkler would give off. It too disappeared in about a second. I yelled at my wife that we might be having a comet show. After watching the sky for another 30 minutes and not seeing anything else unusual I thought more about it and since the sky was very overcast I began to doubt that the two object could have been shooting stars because of the overcast and the fact that they were on a flat trajectory and not descending. Watching planes coming in for a landing I could see that their lights were somewhat diminished in brightness until they got lower and closer which would indicate that the cloud cover was fairly low. Please see the attached picture that I took this morning to get an idea of the position on the horizon and the distance they covered. I would like to mention that I saw something similar back in about October 2008 but the gold object traveled along the western horizon just above and along the entire roof line of our house. It only took it about three second to do this. I didnt think much of it at the time as the sun was just setting and the sky was clear. The one odd thing is that it appeared in a bright flash and then instantly got smaller before it went above the roof line. I just thought it was a shooting star as well. I am a long time UFO buff and I read your daily reports and look at the pictures. I am usually very skeptical of what most people would like to call a UFO. I would very much like to know if anyone else saw these objects above San Antonio last night.

Oklahoma – March 25th 2009

I was standing in my back yard letting my dog pee, when I noticed two stars in the sky that I had never noticed before. I often stargaze while I’m out back with my dog, so I knew that something was different. They then BOTH began to move west. I instantly ran inside to get my video camera. When I came back out, they had moved about 45 degrees to the west from when I left them. Up until this point, they were an equal distance apart. They then both blanked out and then instantly reappeared much further apart. They did this twice. The entire time that I was trying to film them, my cheap auto focus video camera couldn’t hardly pick them up. Then the most westward one sent out three very bright and distinct strobes. Then the second one replied with a series of strobes itself. They then began to move at a slightly faster pace, whilst continuing to strobe to each other. At no time were any of the strobe sequences the same. If one sent out three strobes, the other would do a different number of strobes. It was extremely obvious that the two ufos were communicating with one another. I continued to try to film them as they continued westward and out of my sight line. Once I could no longer see them, I got my iphone and googled MUFON Oklahoma, and called the number listed, and told the person what had just occurred. Being a former police officer, I have had numerous hours of training in observation. These were absolutely not airplanes. Airplanes don’t disappear and reappear miles from where they just were in an instant. There was no sound, but even if they were emitting sound, they were so high up that I wouldn’t have been able to hear them. When you witness something like this, it gives you a feeling inside that is absolutely unique. It’s like you’re hit with the realization that you are ACTUALLY witnessing a UFO incident, and the feeling is just indescribable. But to try to put into words how it makes you feel is like the most scared that you could be, mixed with the most excited you could be, mixed with the most confused that you could be. Humans DO NOT have flying machines that can do these things.

UK Google Street View Captures Alien

While privacy groups cry fowl over the recent launch of Google’s UK Street View, someone with too much free time on their hands found an unexplained image that resembles a ET like fuzzy creature and an odd white light/line rising out of the ground.

Reportedly, the picture is from Diamond Hill Road, near Morristown airport, New Jersey.
I am unable to find that location on Google Maps and I can’t even find the town “Floral Hill” that can be seen in the screen capture of the alien image.

Britain Releases More UFO Files – Weirdest Yet

In May and again in October of 2008, the British government released collections of their once secret UFO files to the public. In January 2009, David Cameron, leader of the British Conservative Tory party has said that if he is elected Prime Minister, he would be “entirely open and frank” regarding the governments knowledge of UFOs and extraterrestrial activity.

Now they have released another pile of reports, but this bunch is being taken with increased skepticism because of some “obvious” reports of secret military projects being mistaken for alien craft.

They also dismiss the involvement of a UFO in a death of an American Air Force pilot over the North Sea on September 8, 1970.

But its almost like this is to cover up that some of the strangest, most unexplained reports are also in there, including a drawing of a blue banana-shaped object with dangling human-like arms and legs, seen in London in 1989. Also are reports of mass sightings in 1987 and 1988, including a sketch, by a 65-year-old housewife, shows a circle of flashing red lights surrounding a constant red light which she saw in the early hours of June 21 1984 over Highwood, south of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and a collection of drawing from August 16 1987.

And we can’t leave out the November 20 1989 report from a woman walking her dog close to her home near Norwich. While crossing a sports field, she was approached by a man with a “Scandinavian-type accent” who was dressed in a light brown garment like a flying suit. Her report states, “He asked her if she was aware of stories about large circular flattened areas appearing in fields of wheat, and then went on to explain that he was from another planet similar to Earth, and that the circles had been caused by others like him who had traveled to Earth.” After about 10 minutes, the man left and she heard a “loud buzzing noise” and then she saw large glowing orange-white spherical object rising vertically from behind some nearby trees.

Newly released UFO files – March 2009

The files contain a wide range of UFO-related documents covering the years 1987–1993. If you want to find out more about close encounters over Heathrow Airport, alien abductions, stray satellites – and what the UK Government thought of it all – then this is the place to be.
